magic cups and flying teapots

It's bit scary for me to put these images out there in the ether. They're such a departure from what I usually do in my prints (both woodblocks and mixed media prints) but in the name of personal and creative growth I'm throwing them out there, and will accept any constructive criticism. What I liked about doing this print was the colours (thanks darling M :) and the playful idea of magic flying cups and teapots. I loved the idea of them picking up their pretty wings and flying off into the night. He heeeeee!

So here it is with a close up too.

  1. Lovely and graphic with the boldness of the shapes and just the right touchy of whimsy!

    What inks and paper??

  5. I think this print is great, and I love the themes of flight and tea combined!

(Coincidentally I have a tea themed print in the making at the moment, and I only wish it was half as gorgeous as this.)

  8. I think I might have commented on this on Flickr, but in case I didn't....

I really like this piece, Jen's choice of word - whimsy I think is perfect.

I love the colours and the feeling that they're flying away, a lovely feel of a happy escape. It has a Leunig feel to it.
